Salt Creek Grille

I happen to like surprises, Kyle does not. So when I told him that I would be picking him up at 6pm and that he should wear a polo or nice button up shirt he was a little worried. When I started to drive down the 91 and got on the 241 toll road he asked:

"are we were going to San Clemente?"

"No, don't worry about it and just enjoy the ride," I said.

"You know I don't like surprises. Just tell me!" through gritted teeth and clenched hands.

"Oh, but I do like surprises and plus I love to see you get all worked up like this," I joked with him.

He proceeded to take guesses as to where we were going and was thrown off a bit when I took the Crown Valley exit instead of going all the way down to Doheny and PCH, but that was the whole point. After a couple of U-turns I got us into the parking lot of the Salt Creek Grille and there was a smile on his face.

I had a tasty King Salmon Steak and Kyle got the Porterhouse Stroganauf ,both which where DELCICOUS! He proceeded to tell me how he had always wanted to come here for dinner ever since he was young, seeing that his parents would come here every time they camped at Doheny. On our drive back from beach camping last week Kyle commented that he has always wanted to eat here as we drove by, so I took a mental note and made it a reality.

San Clemente

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the beach. But probably my favorite beach of all is San Clemente. So, when Kyle's brother, sister-in-law, and nephew invited us down to beach camp with them at San Clemente I could not pass up the opportunity. We were down there Friday through Sunday and had a wonderful time.

Batting Cages and Bumper Cars

Friday night Kyle surprised me by taking me to Scandia for a little batting cage and bumper car action. We only bought 75 pitches which went quickly but we had fun nonetheless.

I'm pretty decent at switch hitting
We were the first in line for the bumper cars so naturally I took the first car. Kyle was in the second car and some funny 10 year old boys took the ones following along with a string of other little kids. As the race started and I led the pack it became apparent that my car was a bit on the slow side as Kyle kept bumping me from behind even though I had the pedal all the way down the entire time. So what did I do? I kept everyone behind me with my great swerving skills laughing the entire 10 laps that they wanted to pass my little car that couldn't but weren't able to pass me. Seriously, I was laughing my head off at myself.

Sore Beyond Sore

I told you yesterday I would be sore and I had no idea just how sore. You should see me walk...if that is what you could call my straight legged shuffle.

Empire State Building

This morning at boot camp I climbed the equivalent of the Empire State Building. That's right...102 floors, 1860 stairs all in under 35 minutes...but in fact I lost count twice and think I did extra. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow:(

Bowling

Last night Kyle, his brother, Cody, and I went bowling. The bet was that the loser had to buy pizza and I for sure thought I would be picking up the tab because I'm only okay at bowling. But somehow I came out victorious and surprised even myself. We played 3 games within 1 hour and my total for the three games was 416, with my last game high score being a 178. 178!!!! My previous high score was a 148 or something like that. My scores are in line with the W for my nickname Whoa Whoa, my youngest brother couldn't say Cheryl when he was small and Whoa Whoa was his interpretation. I still can't believe I got a 178!

Quakes Baseball

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are a minor baseball team that are located about 2 miles from my apartment. So Friday night when Kyle and I were deciding what to do, I remembered that the choir from the school where I teach was going to be singing the National Anthem at the game. We got there a little late and missed them singing but had no trouble finding them because the tickets I bought had us seated literally 2 rows in front of them. They all went crazy when they saw me and I heard my name being called several times throughout the course of the night.

65 middle school students can make a lot of noise and had I not known them they would have annoyed me like they did everyone else sitting near us, but they sure kept things lively. They were so full of energy that 4 of the girls got asked by the Activity guy to go down during the 7th inning stretch and dance on top of the dugout.
